Contrairement a ce qui avait été annoncé, Beverly Jo SCOTT, prise dans un tourbillon d’obligations suite à l’immense succès de The Voice, ne pourra pas les rejoindre sur scène pour quelques chansons comme c’était prévu au départ  pour ce soir là.   Le concert est évidemment  maintenu tout à fait normalement, mais nous ne voudrions pas que les gens qui seraient venus spécialement  pour la présence de BJ SCOTT soient déçus

TONY JOE WHITE(USA)

The Swamp Fox !.... absolument magistral !

Tony Joe White développe  un style de guitare  graisseux et  brumeux , tout à fait particulier, qui donne à sa musique totalement inclassable (appelée « swamp rock ») une touche reconnaissable dès les premières notes.

Avec son premier groupe, Tony Joe And The Mojos, il tourne dans le sud des Etats-Unis. En 1968, avec Soul Francisco,  il  fait un tabac en Europe et ça lui vaut une première  tournée  sur le Vieux Continent. Sur son premier album, Black And White, figure Polk Salad Annie popularisé en 1970 par…ELVIS PRESLEY . Dès lors, tout en poursuivant sa propre carrière, marquée par de rares albums, il compose pour d'autres : Johnny Rivers … Dusty Springfield ou Brook Benton.  En 1989, Tony Joe White offre 3 titres dorés sur tranches à Tina Turner : Foreign Affair, Undercover Agent To The Blues et Steamy Windows . Il enregistre ensuite trois albums magnifiques, parmi lesquels The Path Of A Decent Groove, qui le repositionnent à la une de l'actualité.

Avec sa  lourde voix d'ours mal léché, ses riffs de guitare baveux soulignés par un harmonica plaintif, il est très respecté dans le « métier » et reconnu  comme un des artistes les plus originaux de ces 20 dernières années.

Festival de la Guitare de Verviers

Proyecto Cubano (B)

Ambiance Caraïbes.. y a d’la Salsa dans l’air !

Formé en 2007 par Alain Janclaes  (Guitare) et Esteban Jimenez(Chant) « Proyecto Cubano » a exploré le répertoire traditionnel cubain et les classiques de la salsa  avant de développer des compositions originales.

Une équipe solide  de jeunes musiciens de jazz complète le groupe qui s’est adjoint récemment le talent d’une chanteuse Cubaine Nancy  Brito. Proyecto s’est produit très souvent en Belgique, en Allemagne et a Cuba lors du 20ième festival de son de Mayari présentant un répertoire mixte salsa- Latin Jazz. A l’occasion du festival de la guitare un nouveau répertoire  sera présenté faisant la part belle à la guitare sans dénaturer l’esprit Latino « festif » de la superbe musique Afro-Cubaine.

Hailing from the desert land of Arizona – Hogjaw is bringing in the rock from the Southwest. The quartet includes; Jonboat Jones (vocals/guitar), Kreg Self (lead guitar), Elvis DD (Bass) & J. "Kwall" Kowalski (drums) deliver a dose of genuine rocking goodness.


Hogjaw was formed in late 2006 through the power of jamming…” when we realized what we had, it just snowballed.” Everyone in the band are standing friends from High School with one common goal, rocking, it became almost instant for the music to develop. With years of playing in label bands, touring afar, and playing beat-up acoustic guitars in and around the hills, these guys find their talents on a way of their own. It is spoken through the songs…and with support from everyone surrounding Hogjaw….things couldn’t be more fun for the group!
