Re: Currently Listening

Fabrizio de Andre was not an RPI artist, he was a singer/songwriter, a folk singer a la Bob Dylan, but without the awful voice (De Andre's voice is actually quite nice). His lyrics are as highly regarded as Dylan's though, but I wouldn't know because I don't speak Italian. The remake of La Buona Novella has a great deal of added RPI instrumental sections on top of the original folk-rock album, the end product sounds much better, IMO.

Re: Currently Listening

Dogman, have you heard  Orme's  "Gioco di Bimba 2010" ? They have a new vocalist: Metamorfosi's Davide Spitaleri !
I first heard it on RAI1 a couple of months back (Ciak si Canta!)
It's "emailable" since it's only around 4mb. If you like, I'll email it to you. It's an official free download, no worries.

Re: Currently Listening

Last days I'm (mostly) in constant loop with Italian band D.F.A., especially with their 3rd album called 4th and there's a song that blows my mind every time I listen to it. Besides, I got shitloads of new and interesting music, and would love to recommend you guys acts such:

Tohpati Ethnomission - they've released an album in this year called "Save the Planet", the guys are from Indonesia and play, well they play ethno jazz fusion;

Slivovitz - another Italian band, can be labeled as fusion, but in my opinion this one is more oriented toward classic jazz or its free form, they've been playing this years Nishville Jazz Festival here in Serbia and they've got an interesting name wink I've got their album called Hubris, and that's what I listen to these days

simakDialog - yet another fusion jazz project from Indonesia, check out an album called Demi Masa

Holdsworth Pasqua Haslip Wackerman - Blues for Tony, an release which doesn't have anything with blues, except its title, and I think there's no need to talk too much about it, except this is a live record;

The Movements - For Sardines Space is not Problem is a space rock album and if you're in mood you will like this one. As it says in the booklet, this album is the first one that's actually played in cosmos, literary;

Electric Orange - Krautrock from Hell, EO is a legend in the underground space/krout/psych rock scene and this album is a good representative of the genre(s);

Sula Bassana - The Night is space/psychedelic rock album featuring Stefan Koglek of Colour Haze and it's interesting that this guy (Sula Bassana) manages to do also full electronic albums under the same pseudonym, which are not my cup of tea, but this one is good one, simply cuz it's rock, haha big_smile

Morild - Time to Rest, symphonic prog rock coming from Trondheim, Norway. The debut album, consisted of 2cds, with more than 100 minutes of music, done in home studio and it's an average album;

Other mentionable likes in my playlist are: Hypnos 69, My Brother the Wind, Siena Root, Oresund Space Collective, Astra, Moraine, Opeth,...

Derp!

Re: Currently Listening

This thread is getting confusing. I blame everyone but me.

Aldo left!? How strange, he didn't even mention it in our interview. Sounds like a good version, but I prefer the original, even though I like Metamorfosi tongue

That is weird, he left at the end of last year... Even has a solo album "Il Viaggio".

Anyway, back on topic:

NP:
King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King (SW remix from "The Box")
Up next:
England - Garden Shed

Re: Currently Listening

Just listened, Return to Forever, Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, now playing Return to Forever: Returns. After that, Romantic Warrior by the same, then The Bateless Edge by Frogg Cafe.

I haven't heard his solo album, is it good? I'm gonna make an Italian Prog thread, care to respond in there?
