No Steve Hackett nor Phil Collins, but Trespass (1970) is indeed a timeless masterpiece of Symphonic rock; Genesis were one of the first that defined the genre as such. It's moody, grandiose, pastoral, dreamy, epic, romantic, melancholic and aggressive at the same time. English folk music is perfectly melded with "progressive" idiom of the era. A lot of flute, 12-string acoustic guitar, Mellotron and Hammond organ are adorned with mysterious lyrics and outstanding Gabriel' singing. A fantasy-like artwork amazingly describes the music.
However, 50 years after its release, highly influential Trespass is still an underrated masterpiece.
