There are several reasons for this: T.F.K will have a year off 2009, except for some one off gigs, my career as a soccer coach has ended (1 gold medal 06/07) and of course there are songs that I have written through the years that don’t fit the T.F.K formula. Old fashioned as I am, I don’t want it to be like a project, I want a band with a certain sound. The key to that I believe, is to find enthusiastic musicians who love to play my music and are willing to rehearse and to create a unit that really works well together. Il  commence à jouer de la guitare en 1966 alors qu’il n’avait que 8 ans. Né dans une famille de musiciens il a d’abord appris le jazz, mais bien vite il a succombé à la Beatlemania et à l’invasion des groupes anglais de blues rock. La guitare électrique est alors devenue un outil essentiel pour lui. Après avoir écouté les morceaux de Jimi Hendrix et d’Eric Clapton il parvient à développer son propre style. Il décide alors de quitter l’école. En 1981, un an après la mort de John Lennon Stevie écrit et enregistre son premier single “Why do they kill”.Aujourd’hui encore il joue cette chanson qui est devenue avec le temps sa  piste référence. Au milieu des années 90 Stevie donne des concerts au Japon et en Europe et participe 5 fois au Montreux Jazz Festival. Il sort d’ailleurs un album « Live At Montreux » datant d’une de ses performances  de 2003 composé de 12 titres. En février 2010 il propose son album “12 Reasons” agrémenté de solo de guitare détonnant. Grâce à sa collaboration avec Zappa  il a été repéré  par  David Bowie ce qui lui a permis de participer à la tournée « Heroes » de 1978 et de contribuer à « Lodger » un autre album de Bowie. Plus tard, il officia comme directeur musical sur le « 1990 Sound+Vision Tour » de Bowie tout en y étant guitariste et chanteur. On peut aussi noter de nombreuses collaborations avec Talking Heads, Laurie Anderson, Paul Simon, et Nine Inch. Trop peu connu du grand public, Belew possède pourtant un son reconnaissable. Peu importe le style musical exploré il arrive toujours à poser sa signature que ce soit dans le Hard Rock, le Funk ou la New Wave.
