In 1993 their classic debut studio album saw the light of day. It was called "Wounded Land" and was released on the GEP label. Le fait que les musiciens aient choisi le nom d un personnage de Tolkien, Reine des Elfes dans "Le seigneur des anneaux" ne laisse aucun doute sur la nature progressive de leurs productionshttp://www.galadrielmusic.com/http://www.myspace.com/galadrielbandhttp://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=121http://www.musicinbelgium....mp;id=3441 http://video.google.com/v....&emb=0 "Calibrated Collision Course" est le quatrième album de la formation ibérique. Le premier album était sorti en 1988, le groupe n’a plus rien sorti depuis 1997, on peut donc parler de reformation (c’est à la mode). Galadriel est essentiellement constitué par Jesús Filardi (programmation des claviers et chant) et de José Bautista (programmation de claviers et basse). Ajoutons Javier Iñigo à la batterie et une série de musiciens invités (claviers , guitares, accordéon…) dont Jean Pascal Boffo : guitariste et premier artiste signé sur le label Musea en 1985. C’est précisément ce label qui distribue Galadriel chez nous.L’album dont il est question dans ces lignes débute fort, un progressif énergique soutenu par une belle ligne de basse, voix scandée par instant avec des pointes de rire sardonique. On se situe à mi-chemin entre le prog et Faith No More (la comparaison avec le célèbre groupe de métal américain s’arrête ici). Une pointe d’accent King Crimson époque "Discipline" au centre du morceau, plaisant, vraiment!Du rock progressif années 80 pour suivre rappelant un peu les ambiances de Pendragon, et puis arrive avec la fantaisie diététique "Calorie Street", l’influence majeure du groupe : Yes ! Non pas que le groupe copie littéralement la musique du géant progressif britannique, mais il est indéniable que nos amis espagnols y puisent leur inspiration. Disons que Galadriel est à Yes ce que Marillion époque Fish était à Genesis (si ce n’est que Marillion avait créé un son et un style propres au groupe).Le milieu de l’album toujours inspiré de Yes est plus typé années 80 avec claviers criards à l'avant-plan. Vient ensuite le morceau de bravoure (comme dirait un animateur célèbre de la RTBF) : "As big as bang". Très mélodieux comme le reste de l’album, mais un peu long à mon goût. Commentaires en voix-offs histoire de donner un petit côté Pink Floyd, arpèges à la Genesis ça et là, mais c’est toujours l’influence Yes qui domine."Consumer Satisfaction", la plage de clôture s’inscrit dans la même lignée. Nous sommes en présence d’un bon album de rock progressif, mais très classique malgré une plage d’ouverture, "Blind Hostage", originale et enthousiasmante. Dommage que la suite soit plus conventionnelle, mais bon! C’est certain que David est pour beaucoup dans l’origine du  « son » de Dire Straits... ça saute aux oreilles.
